Frequently Asked
What is Pink Vail?

People walk/run for cancer, why not ski/snowboard to support and honor cancer fighters?!? Pink Vail is a day on the snow to benefit patient care and survivorship programs at Shaw Regional Cancer Center.

Where does the money raised go?

100% of the funds raised stay locally at the Shaw Regional Cancer Center. All proceeds from this annual event benefit patient care and the “Spirit of Survival” program, which offers all patients at Shaw Regional Cancer Center in Edwards, CO the opportunity to receive an individualized exercise plan; emotional support through individual counseling, group support and activities; nutritional education; outdoor adventures and much more.

Is this a race?

No. Participants can ski their hearts out or just chill on a deck and soak in the spring sun. The goal of Pink Vail is to raise funds for Shaw Regional Cancer Center and have fun. If you’ve got that competitive edge, vie for one of the top individual or team fundraising spots and win incredible prizes!

How do you raise funds?

Just like asking someone to sponsor your walk or run for a summer breast cancer event, you are asking friends and family to sponsor your ski day. Send e-mails, make some calls, and knock on doors—you’ll be amazed at how generously people will support you and this great cause!

How much does it cost to participate?

Registration is $25/person and includes event credentials (lift tickets not included). Participants are encouraged to raise funds by asking friends and family to sponsor your ski day. The more you raise, the more prizes you are eligible for - and the more our community cancer center benefits.

How many people can be on a team?

2 or 200 - as many as you want.

What is the Checkpoint Challenge?

If you are looking for something fun to do during the day, hit the on-mountain party decks of the Checkpoint Challenge between 10 AM - 2 PM. Each deck party will have a different theme - TBD. Pink Vail volunteers will be at the decks to punch your Pink Vail pass, which makes you eligible for end-of-day prizes.

What is the Celebration Ski Down?

Survivors, friends and family and those skiing in honor of a loved one are invited to meet at Pink Vail Headquarters at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola. After a spirited rally, groups will ski down in a united fight against cancer. Time is TBD.

What if I want to participate in Pink Vail, but don't have a lift ticket/ski pass?

If you sign up as a Pink Vail participant, but don't have a lift ticket or ski pass, you can still be a part of the day. Thanks to our partner, Vail Mountain, we have a limited number of foot passes valid for a ride up and down the Eagle Bahn Gondola. To make sure we have enough passes, you will need to request a pass by emailing us at liz.pyke@vvmc.com or calling (970) 569-7752 by March 10, 2015. On March 21, 2015, stop by the Pink Vail tent at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola to pick up your foot pass. Please keep in mind that lift operators will not allow foot passengers to carry any gear (boots, skis, snowboards) on the lift. When you get to the top, check in at Pink Vail Headquarters for your credential and goodies!

Do you need volunteer support?
